Hi Michael: Thanks for responding. Have more recently found out that my William Lonsdale was born in Nov 1831 (US Census, 1900), to Hargreaves and Mary Lonsdale, in Great Mitton Yorkshire (he was christened there in May 1832 per the IGI). Have no info on H & M, and cannot find further children on the IGI. My Grandfather was William Hargraves Lonsdale III (guess the "e" got dropped somewhere), and HIS g'father was the William born in 1831, so I would conclude that Hargr(e)aves was his middle name, from his father. WHL I married Ann Bell (born Clitheroe) in the Cathedral in Manchester in 1857 and emigrated to the US in 1863. Wife and 3 kids followed in 1864 and WHL III was born in NY state in 1865.
Still hoping to tie Hargreaves Lonsdale into some known family line.
Thanks for your help.
Gloria
