Peter's death is indexed by the GRO as Peter "Longsworth" in West Derby in March Quarter 1872 aged 63. This spelling of the surname has also been used twice on the marriage indexes so these entries may also refer to your Peter:
June Quarter 1843 at Liverpool ref 20 204
Sept Quarter 1851 at Liverpool ref 20 214
The ref for the death, if you want to get the certificate from Southport is 8b346.
