hello fellow longo:
the city of Palermo is the capital of the region of Sicily. There are many longo's also in the city of capaci and isola delle femmine. many who bare our last name have been important to the political landscape not only of palermo itself but to the other towns that are part of the district of palermo. the best way is to contact an italian-speaking person to get you in touch with the Stato Civile di palermo which boasts the best records in europe. They have records of families living in the palermo area as well as all of italy. They have birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, information on family whereabouts and status. Also there are numerous websites that help gear you to search effectively. P.S. the first antonio longo came into sicily in 1506. The family originally came from 12century genoa, when genoa was the most powerful country in Europe and boasts the likes of Columbus, the cabots, and other great navigators and powerful families. Hope this helped. Good luck on your search
