Source: Washington County, Maryland, Cemetery Records, Volume 1, Recorded by Samuel Webster Piper; Presented by Conococheague Chapter, N.S.D.A.R.; Edited by Dale W. Morrow, 1992 (Westminster, MD: Willow Bend Books, 2000), 20.

"HINE, John age 69y 1m 24d, d. 14 Apr 1856"

"HINE, Mary w/o John HINE b. 14 March 1788; d. 11 February 1845"

[both are buried in Lutheran Graveyard, Main Street, Sharpsburg]

Comments:
(1) From John's age at death, my genealogy software calculates his birth date as 21 February 1787.
(2) From their marriage date of 1 November 1838, Mary LONGMAN was about 50 years old and unlikely to have children from the marriage.
(3) Sophia C. HINE: perhaps from an earlier marriage of John?? In the book "Washington County, Maryland, Marriages, An Index: 1799 - 1860 (Morrow and Morrow, 1982)" there are four marriages to John HINE(s): Mary CRETZER 3/28/09; Mary LONGMAN 11/1/38; Mary WILLIAMS 2/26/40; and Eliz. MILLER 8/8/48.
(4) I have been researching the Washington County LONGMAN family for a long time, and I cannot find a Mary that fits the dates for this family. Is it possible that this Mary was "widow" Longman?

I hope we can collaborate on resolving these questions.
