James Longley was born in Virginia,he moved with his father to Sevier County, Tenn. about 1800 then to McMinn County. in 1825, from here they moved to the Polk County from there James went to Catoosa County, Georgia where he died July 14, 1870 and is buried near Ringold in the Salem Baptist Church cemetery.
