TWO Longfellows appear in America in the early 18th century: William and Joseph. We know from the heading of this posting that William was born 1679 at Newbury, MA. His birth in those NVR is a bonafide primary record. Rock solid, as is the detail and documentation of his New England life. The next is more difficult as the FIRST evidence of Joseph is 1710 when he witnessed Elizabeth's will. Keep in mind we are not trying to learn (at this point) HOW he got there, but simply this as the FIRST record of his presence. The magic question Terry, to get to the root of this: How old do you think Joseph was when he witnessed that will? Please make an educated guess. Would you say his age was 10, 20, 30, 40, or more than 50? Keep in mind William2 (his father was already dead), got married 8 years before Joseph appears in Maryland as witness to that will. I await your answer. This is a quick ten-second drill in very basic genealogy. Notify Administrator about this message?
