The Longenecker Family Newsletter is starting a DNA testing of the Longacre-Longaker-Longenecker-Langenegger families to determine which descendant is related to one of three "Longeneckers." The first family (in the 15th century) came from the village of Langenegg, Canton BERN, Switzerland. The second (also in the 15th century) came from the vilage of Langenegg, Canton APPENZELL, Switzerland. The third family (in 1685) was "Longacre" when the Swede Andreas Petersson changed his name to "Longacre" and had a descendant James B. Longacre, chief engraver of the U.S. Mint (1828-1849), who designed the Indian Head penny from his daughter dressed as a Indian, Sarah. Participants e-mail dickcryer@juno.com
