Karen Lizabeth Longenecker TEXAS OBIT
(07/22/2003) Karen Lizabeth Longenecker was born on April 11, 1957, in Wilmington, Delaware. She passed away suddenly on Friday, July 18, 2003, at home. She was a gifted flutist and musician. Karen earned her degree in Flute Performance from The University of Texas in 1980. She was a born teacher, touching the lives of many young Austin musicians with her enthusiasm for teaching and passion for all music. Her daughters remember her unselfishness and joyful giving to all who knew her. Karen was a lifelong member of University United Methodist Church and often told her children that she found many blessings and peace in her church. She lived her life according to her faith, demonstrating compassion for all. Those who will greatly miss her gentle spirit and loving nature include her daughters, Catharine and Caroline Ahls, her greatest joys in life; her sister and brother-in-law, Luanne and John Gytri, and their children Donald and Julia Karen; mother, Bunny Longenecker; and father and step-mother, John and Myrna Longenecker. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2003,at University United Methodist Church with the Reverend Rosie Johnson officiating (parking is available at the Central Parking Lot at 25th and Guadalupe and The UT Highrise Garage at 25th and San Antonio).
