Vicey Long wife of Samuel H. Scott Sr.
Does any one know anything about a Vicey Long?I’ve been looking for a very long time and can’t seem to find much. There’s a post by Janice Lawson, in the Scott Surname forum, back in Dec 2002 which says:
“Samuel H. Scott, Sr. m. 1.) Vicey Long and 2.) Mahala ‘Mahaly’ Suggs b. 2-10-1825 NC. d. 7-25-1902 Webster Co., MS., buried McMullen Cemetery, Webster Co., MS. (daughter of Thomas Suggs and wife Mary). Samuel and Mahala m. by 1850 and listed on the 1850 Chickasaw Co., MS. census/1870 Chickasaw Co., MS. census and 1880 Sumner Co., MS. census.”
Then I found this website, which mentions her:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~mswebst2/mcmullencemetery.htmlhttp://www.rootsweb.com/~mswebst2/mcmullencemetery.html
Like Janice I have Vicey as being the 1st wife of Samuel H. Scott Sr., except I know Samuel H. Scott Sr. as Samuel Hutchinson Scott. All the other information matches up (i.e., DOB, DOD, locations etc.).
What’s is so troublesome for me is my Scott line I have coming from Vicey and Samuel (this was from genealogy which my dad had done before his death).Without anything on Vicey I feel a little uncomfortable. Here’s my Scott line:
Dora Scott (b. 23 Jun 1902)
William Riley Scott (b. 1867)
James M. Scott (abt. 1838)
Samuel Hutchinson Scott [a.k.a. Samuel H. Scott Sr.] (b. 27 Nov 1816)
James Scott (b. 6 Oct 1790)
William Scott (b. 3 Dec 1760)
James Scott (death 1799)
Does any one know anything about Vicey Long?
