Obituary-"Southern Democrat" newspaper;Date:February 28, 1938Title:"FATHER OF MRS. ED MILLER DIES AT HOME NEAR SNEAD"Text:"..Mr. Robert Long of near Snead , father of Mrs. Ed. Miller, of Oneonta, died at his home near Snead Monday. Interment was in the Emmaus Cemetery Tuesday. Mr. Long was 64 years of age & complications resulting from a severe attack of the flu hastened his death. Mr. Long had been a native of this county practically all of his life, having come from Clay County, where he was born, at an early age. He was a member of the Christian Church. Reverend Pryde E. Hinton conducted the services. He leaves his companion, Mrs. Alice Long & 12 children; Arthur Long,of Birmingham; Cal Long, of Walnut Grove; J. P., Allen, & Oren Long [all] of Snead;Mrs. Ed. Miller, of Oneonta; Mrs. Ruth Hinson, of Rt.#2, Horton; Mrs. LaVada Sloan, of Clarence; Mrs. L. D. Dempsey, of Blountsville; Mrs. Nettie Copeland, of McLarty; & Misses Lena & Elva Long of Snead..."NOTE:[1] Robert Lee Long married Alice Eliza Fleming in Blount County, ALabama. They are buried together in the Emmaus Cemetery near Snead, Blount County, Alabama.[2] Mrs. Ed. Miller was their daughter, Velma or Vera. Her husband, Mr. Ed. Miller, was the current Sheriff of Blount County, Alabama at the time of the death of Mr. Long.
