William H(amilton?) Long, son William Francis Long - PA
I was hoping some of you Long researchers might be able to point me in the right direction toward the ancestors of my gg grandfather, William H(amilton?) LONG (b. 1830s or 1840s, I THINK).Unfortunately, I don't have much information on him. I know that he was married to Sarah CASKEY and that, together, they produced my great grandfather, William Francis Long.
While I don't know much about William H. Long, I do have some info on his son, William Francis Long.I know from his death record that William Francis Long was born on November 22, 1863, in Pittsburgh, PA, and died on July 21, 1956, in Fayette Co (Uniontown), PA.His occupation on his death record is listed as superintendent of "Street Railways." William Francis Long married Kate F. WOOD (b. Aug. 12, 1867, d. Oct 7, 1959), sometime in the 1880s.From an old family bible, I know that William F. and Kate had the following children:
Abbie Loretta Long (b. Oct. 13, 1886 - d?)
Irene Lois Long (b. Aug. 13, 1893 - d. in the 1980s)
Margaret Estella Long (b. Apr. 3, 1896 - d.?)
William Hamilton Long (b. Apr. 5, 1898 - d. ?)
Charles Frederick Long (b. Apr. 27, 1900 - d.?)
Murray Wilbert Long (b. May 10, 1906 - d.?)
Joseph Benjamin Long (b. Aug. 10, 1909, Uniontown, PA - d. June 24, 1981, Falls Church, VA)
One other tidbit.A kind researcher found a William H. and Sara Long in the 1910 Franklin Co., PA, census report and shared that info with me. In that 1910 census report, William H. is listed as age 69, and Sara, age 61, plus there are two sons living with them:Percy, age 29, and Samuel, age 23.This could be my William H. Long, but I can't say for sure, not knowing anything about the family.Does anyone have a connection to this family?
Unfortunately, I live in Georgia and my PA resources are limited. My genealogy library has some PA information, but not much.Any thoughts on the ancestors of William H(amilton?) Long would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Cheryl
