Hello all.
I am looking for the maiden name for the mother of Harriet LONG b1847 in Ohio, m.1868 to George LAKIN. As well as any other info you may have.
I feel sure that her father was William LONG b1801 in Ky and her mother's first name was listed as Elenor b1803 Pa on the 1850 census. There have been references to her maiden name being "HALSTE," I am wondering if HALSTEAD is more correct.
Reason: Christian LONG (brother Harriet sent son Homer to live with after George's death) lives next to a HALSTEAD family according to the 1850 census. And included in the Halstead household is Elizabeth LONG b. 1833 Ohio.
Hopefully this makes sense. I'm new to this game and really hope someone can fill in the blanks for me.
