Hi,

I wanted to copy and paste my post as a response to yours. I'm wondering if your Edward Long and my Edward Long are related or possibly even the same person... Here is my post:

I'm looking for information on my ancestor Esquire C. Long (I know he married a Malinda Byford) who was born around 1804 in Tennessee and later moved to Ithawamba County, Mississippi (where my ancestor Marion Eldridge Long was born) and later on to Wright County, Missouri. From my research, it seems likely that Esquire (and possibly Brothers Solomon and Samuel) were the sons of an Edward Long (and possibly Hannah Travis?) who was born in Guilford County, North Carolina around the time of the American Revolution. I found a Long family tree on Ancestry.com that has this Edward Long as a son of Solomon Edward Long (born in Frederick County, Virginia in 1744 and died in 1831 in Clinton County, Kentucky) and Catherine Julian (b. abt 1746 in Frederick County, Virginia). After reading some of the posts on this forum, nevertheless, I am wondering if this Solomon Edward Long is a real person, a combination of real people, or an internet fabrication. Can anybody help me?

The tree I found has this Solomon Edward Long as the son of Tobias Long (from Cecil County, Maryland) and Martha Robinson (from neighboring Chester County, Pennsylvania). Is this tree correct or is it just internet fabrication? You can e-mail me at netnik808@gmail.com.

Thanks,
Nicholas Long
