Thanks for that, it really is very interesting to me. Feel free to tell me more, if and when the mood takes.
John, the shoemaker from Rede, was my great, great, grandfather.
I knew that his daughter, my great grandmother Emily Musk, came from a very large family, and some of them were doing quite well.
Emily had an older sister, Susan, so she was probably the shoemaker you refer to?
She apparently had a brother John, who I've not been able to find as yet, who emigrated to Australia in 1906.
He did very well out there, but died fairly young, and subsequently left Emily & James Lomax quite a lot of money, which they used to indulge their grandson, my father, the apple of their eye, who went to live with them, after his father returned from WW1 with T.B.
Now about this red hair.
There is a fair bit in my family too, but not conclusive, as there is also red hair on my mother's side.
