Lokey Family Genealogy Forum
Dingley Lokey who was born in MD according to the 1850 census, married in Warren county, GA, in 1809. One of his sons is believed to be Benjamin. Another is Samuel. Perhaps Dingley was father to one of the two Benjamins you discuss.
Also in Warren county at that time, living nearby, was my ancestor, Charles Logue, born 1761 in NC. Related to the NC Logues were the Maryland Logues, though we aren't quite sure how we are connected. Prominent among the Maryland Logues was Manassas Logue. I have always wondered if the GA Lokeys and Logues were cousins. Have you investigated the possibility that your Lokeys might have been Logues originally? The Logue name is variously spelled Loag, Loage, Loague, Logie, Logee, Logg, Loug, Lough, Loge, and even Loak. It takes only a slight change to go from Loak to Lokey.
