My maternal grandfather, Marcellus Augustus Lahr/Lohr and one of his brothers, Warren, had a business in Chicago, Ill. in the late 1800s, early 1900s. I understand the name LAHR accidentally became LOHR, due to a postal mistake. Grandfather Lohr and all his brothers were in the Civil War, under both names. Grandfather had lied about his age and joined at the age of 15. I'd like to learn of his where-abouts from the end of the Civil War in 1865, till the Chicago egg and butter business with his brother, Warren, in Illinois. I can't help but wonder if he had another family prior to marrying my grandmother, Carrie Melissa Shuttleworth Carr in the early 1900s. I'll be on vacation till after 12/1/07, but please contact me after that if you have any information... Judith Harrod Sallows ( j_sallow@hotmail.com) Notify Administrator about this message?
