Version 1/19/98:I am searching for information about August Samuel Friedrich LOHMANN my paternal grandfather, his ancestors and descendants.It is believed that August was born near Liepzig, Germany,in 1841.A legal document in my possession dated 1868 and issued in Liepzig suggests that August was from or born in Schonebeck.It is believed that August requested this document while he was in the United States for naturalization purposes.An 1888 map shows Schonebeck to be just south of Magdeburg, Germany.
It is believed that August immigrated to the US as a boy with his parents through the port of New York.Immigration lists suggest that August arrived as a child at the port of New York from Bremen, Germany on the ship Hansa, December 9, 1852, with relatives (believed to be father, mother, sisters and brothers).The Germany residence of the Heinrich LOHMANN family given in the passenger list was Wollten.Wollten is believed to be misspelled and possibly should be "Woltem"The Hansa passenger list shows: Heinrich LOHMANN, 46; Friederike, 43; Caroline, 14; Wilhelmine, 12; August, 10; Conrad, 7; Heinrich ,3; Wilhelm, 9 mos.The connection of this arrival information to August LOHMANN has not been verified.

SCHWECHTEN on [May 25, 1866?],possibly in Philadelphia.Other documents indicate that Emma Marie was born in 1852, confirmedon May 15, 1866 as an adult member ofan Evangelish Kirche. She may have been from Vielbaum, a small village south of Wittenberge and very near to the larger town of Seehausen.The church may be located in Seehausen.

Emma's age, place of birth and date of baptism are not known altho she is known to be the eldest of the children.All of the children except Emma and Selma were baptized in St. Peter's Deutsch Evangeliche Kirche in Kansas City, MO.Emma Marie died in Freestone County, Texas in 1895.August died on January 13, 1909 in Dallas, Texas.August is believed to have been buried in Freestone County, Texas on a farm near Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas.
