Hello Faye, Thank you for your reply. The information I have on John Lohman and his family is very limited. His daughter Annie Catherine was my grand-fathers mother.I do know that John S. or L. Lohman did come from Germany, but when I don't know. I know he was married to Margaret "Mary" B. maiden name unknown. I know that they were in NJ for a while where their first daughter Margaret Elizabeth (or Eliz. Marg.) was born in 1853. There may have been another daughter born in June 1854 according to a tax record book from Fairfax County Virginia.
I do know that my great grand mother Annie Catherine Lohman was born 17 Mar 1857 and at that time they were living in Fairfax County VA.
From this same tax records book I believe from 1861, it shows John Lohman 49, a farmer born in Germany. It shows his wife Margaret being 45 born in Germany, a daughter Margaret 14, born in NJ and in school and then AnnieCatherine age 4 born in VA.
He must have owned or rented land because he appears in an Agricultural Census listing his livestock and produce. It makes no mention of the daughter born in June of 1854.It says that John Lohman voted in Falls Church Precinct (in Fairfax Co., Va) in 1859, and eligible to vote in 1861. And from there I can find no record of him, his wife or daughter Margaret anywhere. Later Annie Catherinemarried Joseph Franklin Hummer on 20 Dec.1877 in Fairfax County, Va. That is all the info I have on John Lohman, I have no idea when or where he died or what happened to his wife Margaret or thier daughter Margaret. They are not buried around here that I can find. (I also live in Fairfax Co. VA)I sure hope that your John Lohman is my John Lohman. I would love to find out more about him. Thanks, Mattie
