Our "Henry Loman" (as in the 1850 Census, originally Johann Heinrich Lohmann) came to Texas from northern Germany with his first family in the early 1840s, and settled briefly at Hornsby Bend just east of Austin. He then established a dairy which served the young city, on land along Waller Creek north of Austin, now the site of Hancock Recreation Center and golf course.

Loman was widowed about 1847, and married the widow Rosene Caroline Charlotte Meyer in Austin TX on July 19, 1848. Their large family moved to the Bee Caves area west of Austin in later years. Their homestead was covered when Lake Travis was made in 1937-41, but maps still include Lohmann's Crossing as a street in the community of Lakeway, west of Austin. The family cemetery still exists under the surnames Maul and Reinke, men who married ito the Lohmann family.

All of this is documented in several written family histories, and also in on-line genealogies of varying accuracy. If you would like further information, let me know.
