Hi Bob,
I have no record of any Logwoods in Delaware or anywhere else prior to 1737.All my Logwood research has them located in Virginia.I do find a Thomas Logwood on the Quit Rent rolls of 1704 in Virginia. That is the earliest actual Logwood reference that I have been able to locate so far.
My first thoughts when I started researching the family was that there was probably a tie to the Lockwood family somewhere for the reasons you stated. However I have been unable to find an instance of the confusion so far.I have found Logwoods in England prior to the date that I first find them in this country and the name seems to be very clear.I can't tie the English Logwoods to the Logwoods in this country, but will keep trying.
I am very interested in anything you come up with.I see where this kind of thing could happen over and over again. Please keep us posted if you come up with more on this tie.
