hi, iam a decendant of Lucinda Evans Galloway Camp who was a victim of the Fentress County massacre in 1867;Along with her daughter Catherine Galloway and Catherine's son William.A baby girl who married a Bryant,survived and lived in White County.She was found in a feather bed. James ,severly injured crawled up in a fireplace.The doctor later covered the hole in his skull with a coin and he lived impaired for life. he was a farmhand for his cousins. he lived with my grandparents some.my grandmother pronounced his name "Jeems". In the 1940's, he was a resident of the County Home,My grandfather ,his cousin-in -law,visited Jeems most Saturdays,but he wouldn't allow me to go in.I always sat in the car and felt sad.The family never told us about the tragedy in Fentress Coun ty,iwas middleaged before i learned the story.james is buried in Jericho Cemetery in White County.Dec endants of Galloway family purchased a marker.
