Bob,

I am not related however, I believe that "Pauline WHITAKER as his (Grover's) mother" was a reporting error. Grover's grandmother was Mary "Polly" WHITAKER and this fact was probably the reason for the confused death cert. reporting of "Pauline" WHITAKER as his mother.

Other reasons that indicates this was probably a reporting error was that Grover was living with his parents Thomas Jefferson LOGAN and Nancy RING LOGAN in the 1900 Census, and Nancy reported 8 births with 6 still living which had to include Grover.

Re: "marrying 2) Lucy Ann JONES (m. 12-2-1903) in Yadkin County" In the 1910 Census, Grover was living with his father Thomas Jefferson LOGAN and step-mother Lucy Ann JONES PEEL LOGAN. They had only been married 3 years in 1910 so, 2 Dec 1906 not 12-2-1903 is probably the correct marriage date.
