James H Logan

Looking for the parents of James H. Logan. He was born in 1843 in either Pittsburgh, Allegheny County or somewhere in Virginia, in the part that became West Virginia. The confussion lies in the fact the 1880 census states he recorded Virginia (West) to the enumerator. Then when his widow, Matilda applied for a civil war pension it was listed on his War Record Allegheny County, PA. This has been a huge mystery. His widow was denied the pension. THe court records say James H. Logan made contact with a sister in Charleston. But her name was not known. I feel he may not have been a Veteran, as family history states, but still not sure, and was not born in PA. I realize this is sketchy information to make a connection to a set of parents, but this is all I have after two years of checking. He died in June of 1883. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!! (P.S. His first wife was from Fulton County, her name was Jane Ellen Brown, she died in 1872 of Small Pox)

Rob
