I would like to join this discussion on the Logans in Surry NC.

My oldest Logan ancestor that I can positively idenitify is Timothy Logan b. 1759 Surry Co. NC.

I have not been able to positively identify the ancestors of Timothy Logan. However, there is a Logan history compiled by Phillps which states that Patrick Logan and Hugh Logan were the grandfather and father respectively of Timothy Logan and that they lived in Rowan and Surry Co. NC in 1790 and were of Scotch-Irish descent.
This history lists the children of Patrick as: George, Mary, John, James, and Hugh.
listed the children of Hugh Logan as Timothy b.1759(perhaps others)

Timothy b. 1759 in Surry NC., d. March 21, 1848 in Garrard KY. He had three marriages and children as follows:
1st Marriage: Sarah Boone, ch. John b. 1786., Mary(Polly) b. 1787 and Hugh b. 1790 (my ancestor)
2nd Marriage Sarah Alexander. ch. Susan and Margaret.
3rd Marriage: Sarah Smith, ch.George, William, Martha, Sophia, Timothy Jr. and Anne. It appears that the marriages all took place in Madison, KY. which later became part of Garrard KY.

If you have a copy of the will of Patrick Logan 1791, Surry NC. could you please list the children that were mentioned.

Also, in my data I have a George Vandever b. Surry NC. d. in KY. Two marriages: 1st. Sarah Delany, 2nd sp. Mary Jones. George Vandever was said to be a Loyalist in the Revolutionary Days. A daughter Mary Jane Vandaveer was born in 1754.

Do any of these names sound familiar ??
