I have a Sydney Rupert Loftus that matches your criteria, but I'm not sure if it is him.
Sydney Rupert Loftus born England about October 22 1872. He married Emelia (Emma) Cockburn in May 5, 1892, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He Lived in Ottawa until 1919 when he and his family moved to Brooklyn, New York. I beleive Emma died in 1926. The 1901 Canadian Census noted that 'Born England, immigrated 1886'.
He had four children:
1) Charlotte who married Bill Knox in Ottawa, Ont and didn't not move down to the states.
2) William married in 1926 (1930 NY Census) lived in New York. Died 1984 Price, Utah.(SNN index)
3)Dorothy married in 1926 (1930 NY Census) was a dancer on NY stage, married to Mr. Foote(??)
4) Arthur married lived in NY, died 1972 Bristol, Vermont.(SNN index)
