Arleen-I'm trying to figure out if we are looking for the same Loftins/Loftons. I descend from the GA Loftons (my grandmother was Dolly Hulsey Lofton...somewhere along the way the spelling became LoftOn) and I have lived in Atlanta all my life. Anyway, I thought maybe we could help each other, but am confused about which line you come from. I have several from Meriweather Cty. I think you asked about Laurens County. Dublin is the county seat and it's pretty much in the center of the state. Right below Macon. I think you asked if it was a the FL border, but it's not. In a nutshell, mine is like this...Leonard Loftin (England)Benoni Loftin (1704/05 NC), Elkanah Loftin (1726, b. NC, d. GA), James Loftin (1771, B. NC, d. Merriweather Cty, GA), William Loftin (1817, B. Baker Co., GA, d. Heard Cty., GA), Wiliam Henry Lofton (1845 B. GA, D. Palmetto(Atlanta), GA) and the rest are Atlanta folks. Am wondering if any of this is familiar to you. I saw you mentioned Sarah Lowery and that name is so familiar, but can't find in my notes where I saw her name. Any help would be appreciated.
