In 1860 #291 and #292 (father and son) are found on the Monroe county Alabama census. On this census William Sr. is going by his middle name of James. Shows wife Sarah and children above who have not as yet married in 1860. Son William living nearby with second wife Abigail (Lambert)
Does anyone know if this William Sr. who used James is the James Loftin in the published genealogies which would link him to Jeremiah Loftin and Eli Loftin and so on. It is known that William Sr. lived in Jackson county Fla prior to coming to Monroe county Alabama. However, upon searching BLM records, he (William James) doesn't own land in Jackson county at the right time but Jeremiah Loftin does. 300 acres. On the published genealogies there shows a Jeremiah and a James but I haven't been able to find any documentation to link my James (William James) to the published lines.
Can anybody out there help me? This has been very frustrating.
The only other clue to link this family to the published lines is that the above mentioned second wife of William Abigail Lambert's mother is Lillie Loftin b. 1815 in GA. This Lillie Loftin is shown as Sinai on census records, her husband is Alexander Wesley Lambert b. 1807 GA. I found that an Eli Loftin (above mentioned published Loftin) moved from GA to Monroe county and his neighbors were Lamberts according to census info both in GA and in Monroe county. This Eli married Jane Lowery. The question is - Is Lillie/Sinai a daughter of Eli Loftin and Jane Lowery?
Thanks for any help.
