Hi, took a few wks to get back to the library. Can't say for sure the the surname Loflins is in my family line. I have a James Grimsley marring an Ann Sarah unk in Prince William Co, VA about 1740. In 1759, Joseph and a Daniel Loflins witnessed a deed in Fairfax Co, VA. In 1765,a grandson Lofton Grimsley was born in Culpeper Co. The name Lofton is way outside the Grimsley line of names. I'm working on the assumption that Lofton was named after his grandmother. I found a Daniel Loflins in Loudoun Co. in 1781 thru 1789 where he was an assessor in several estates. After that - nothing. One would think that after working on assessing estates that he would have had a will. Maybe he moved. I also found several Loflins/Loftin/Lofton in Frederick Co. but haven't been able to link them.
Looks like another trip back to the library.
Later T.
