I found your post when searching for Adolph Joseph Loehr - he was my g-grandfather.
Following from our family history" - he was b. February 28th, 1831 in "Germany". His father was Jodous Loehr, a tax collector. His mother Fredericka Degraaf, died in 1841.
He arrived in New York Harbor in 1852, after a voyage of seven weeks from Antwerp.
Served in civil war, then married Sophia Oehsle, b. May 30, 1843 in Germany (Her parents never left their native land)
Any similarities to your A.J.?
