Charles J Lockyer of Bristol, England and Beaufort NC

I was wondering if anyone would happen to have any information on Charles J Lockyer (b NOV 1831 Bristol England d 1904 Beaufort North Carolina) or his family. I know that he married Mary Jane Keech in 1857 (Beaufort) and he was a marine captain during the Civil War. I cannot find any links to his life prior to immigrating to the US in 1842, including parentage or family members. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
