Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Having learned the hard way that posting an email address inside a post to a message board only allows SPAM BOTS to send huge amounts of junk email to me, I am loathe to write my new email address here.

Normally someone can easily click on a person's name above their message/post to access their email address. I have notified GenForum of my updated address, but they appear to have difficulty updating all my message posts to show my current address (as their tech forum suggests). I continually click on the "Display My Email Address for all my Messages" with my posts, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I am still eager to receive replies. If you have info, please respond here. Any response posted here will trigger a "reply" which GenForum will send to me.

If you are having problems with GenForum's encryption of your email address and (wisely) choose not to post it inside your message post, then email me at this address on

yahoo.com:

sandyREMOVEMEwiser

EXCEPT, of course, you will have to leave out the "remove me"

Sorry to be complex for newbies, but I cannot stress how easily SPAMMERS can harvest email addresses posted WITHIN a message board post.
