Nova Scotia Vital Stats can be viewed free at www.novascotiagenealogy.ca I did a quick search and found the marriage record of John Lockhart and Margaret Johnson as follows: Groom John Lockhart age 31, bachelor, leading stoker, residing Halifax, born Glasgow, Scotland, son of John & Eliza Bride Margaret Johnson, age 29, spinster, born Halifax, dau of Theodore (deceased) and Mary Married Jan 1, 1902, Halifax, by Banns, Church of England Also the birth record of their son Francis Gerald Lockhart Born April 25, 1908 in Halifax son of John Walter Lockhard and Margaret Johnson. It gave present address of father (application for birthcertificate was made in 1928) as Portsmouth, England and gave his occupation as “Naval” and race as “Scot” Also Death certificate of Margaret Mary Lockhart Died Halifax, April 3, 1952 Residence 7 Creighton St Age – 79 years; Born May 17, 1872 Dau of Theodore Johnson, born Norway and Mary M Reardon, born Halifax, NS Widow of Late John W. Lockhart Informant – Francis G. Lockhard, 9 Rhuland St., Halifax, son of deceased Burial in Holy Cross, April 5, 1952 Francis Gerald Lockhart died in Halifax in 1954, age 45. His wife is the informant and she states that his father was Walter Lockhart and mother Margaret Johnson This family should be on the 1911 Census which is available at www.automatedgenealogy.com However, I was unable to locate them-probably the name has been mis-transcribed. Each page is available for viewing at the above site and since Margaret’s death certificate says she resided on Creighton St her whole life you might be able to find them by simply searching the pages for that area. I could find no record of a divorce. Most likely John’s career took him back to England and Margaret did not want to follow. http://www.gov.ns.ca/nsarm/virtual/rg39/divorce/ Notify Administrator about this message?
