Elisha Locke is my 3rd great-grandfather. His name is also on a bronze plaque in Brockport, NY. The family moved from NH to Monroe County NY about the time of the War of 1812. His information, plus information of his ancestry to Captain John Locke, plus information of his descendants down to my father's generation is included in a book by Arthur H. Locke, "Genealogy of Captain John Locke of NH -- 1627-1696"According to an application to the DAR by Mrs. Esther Shull French, Elisha Locke enlisted in 1776 for 2 months as a private under Captain Simpson. He enlisted July 1777 for four months under Captain Post and Col. Hobart.
He enlisted on April 13, 1778 for one year under Captain Ezekiel Ladd, Simeon Stevens and Barron with Timothy Bedil, Col.
He enlisted in the spring of 1780 for 6 months under Captain Bogg and Colonel Reed.
He enlisted in the spring of 1783 for 5 months as a corporal under Captain Webster.
Elisha Locke was engaged in the battle of Bennington. he enlisted at Bath, NH, and was then a resident of Haverhill, Grafton Co., NH.
Applied for pension Oct 17 1832. He then resided at Sweden, Monroe NY and was 71 years old.
