Don: I have a first cousin, with the Locke surname. His name is Walter Lee Locke, Jr., His father was my mother's brother, Walter Lee Locke Sr. Their father was Matthew Alexander Locke, and his father was Francis Alexander Locke, b. Dec 11 1827. I have not checked with Walter Lee Jr. as yet. But assume I could get in contact with him if you think his DNA would answer the question with which we are concerned. I have done a complete history of my Locke Line and am sure we are direct descendants of Col Francis Locke of Rowan Co., NC. You can contact me directly through e-mail (wellscolwells@cs.com)
