I've been working on my Locke family and have been discouraged by some of the things I found. First, a book by Minnie R. H. Long, has sections of both the Lockes' and the Cathey's in there. She does not list Alice as a child of Alexander's and Elizabeth's. She lists five children: Margaret, John, Richard, William and James. Then, in her chapter on the Lockes, she states at Elizabeth's first husband, John Locke, died in England and she came to North Carolina with five children: Matthew, Francis, George, Elizabeth and Margaret. She does not list John, Jr. It's discouraging to me because both Alice and John are in my family tree! Anyway...........
In trying to get a leg up, I googled Alexander and found more confusing things in the posting on the Varble family form. I don't have them in my database at all! Here's the website........please tell me what you think about this, please.
It's on Gen Forum, Varble Family Genealogy Forum and is posting #6 by Clint Jones. There's a lot of back and forth with him and "Tina", but it's what he has to say about Alia that makes me think Alia and Alice might be two different people and I've somehow gotten them all messed up. I do need some one's help here..........Thanks a bunch!
