Sarah Locke, Rowan Co NC, 1850's
What was (Miss/Mrs?) SARAH LOCKE's connection to the 1850's, Rowan County, North Carolina, Hall family?
My great grandfather was Franklin/Zeb, Rowan County, North Carolina, Rev. John Abner Locke Miller who wed Mary Ann Pinkston. Rev. Locke Miller's father, Capt. Alfred Alexander Miller, CSA, wed Mary Elizabeth Hall who's brother, "Squire" Capt. Abner Leander Hall, CSA Militia, Rowan Co., wed 1st, Susan Rebecca Miller, Capt. Miller's sister. Mrs. Miller and "Squire" Hall's parents were Isaac Anderson Hall, and Mary "Polly" Elliott.
When their uncle Solomon Hall died in the 1850's, "Squire" Hall and Mrs. Miller, together with (Miss/Mrs?) SARAH LOCKE, partook of Solomon's landed estate which instructed that his slaves be manumated and their passage back to Africa be paid. That did not happen, and after the Civil War, the ex-slaves brought suit for the value of their labor and denied passage.
What was Sarah Locke's connection to Solomon Hall, or his late wife (Mrs. Honor Carson Hall?)?
Jim Miller, Southport, N.C.
