Matthew & Francis Locke, Rowan Co NC
Matthew and Francis Locke were sons of John Locke, who ran a line of ships bringing immigrants from London to Philadelphia. John Locke had a home near Doylestown, PA. After John Locke died, his widow married John Brandon.Later, Matthew Locke married married his stepsister, Mary Brandon; Francis married another stepsister, Anne Brandon; and a sister, Margaret, married her stepbrother, Richard Brandon.
The family moved to Rowan County, near Salisbery, around 1750. Matthew and Francis both served in the Revolutionary war and Matthew also served in the US Congress.
Matthew's son Francis and daughter Jane (who married Robert Weakly) moved to Tennessee.
I have more information, copied from DAR records and from gravestones at Thyatira Presbyterian Church. There is also more information in the Brandon Family Geneology Forum.
