John Livingstone of Kilysth - he immigrated to US in 1832

John Livingstone immigrated to the US in 1932 and with him came two sons and 1 daughter. The were Arthur born 1815, Alexander born 1817, and Sarah. They settled in Illinois. There was a sister, Katherine (Kate) that stayed in Scotland and married a Thomas Paul MacGregor, they lived in Glasgow. A brother William went to Sydney to later be found died at an early age there. We had been lead to believe these children had a different father than John, but we have now found two documents to confirm John was the father, but we do not know who is the mother or if there were any other siblings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. We had been lead to believe that the parents were entirely different people for the last 5 years by a paid researcher.
