Sounds like it -thanks
Any ideas why John Allen was born in the Usa (1857) and back in Almondbury by the age of 4 and no mention on that census (1861) of any mother? His father Allen was in 1861 40 years old. George had presumably died and Betty then 64 was head of the family.
On the 1871 census Allen has aquired a wife Elizabeth born 1833 he is now 50 and a younger son called George- brother to John Allen(my great grandfather) has appeared born 1864 in Wooldale Yorkshire!!!
