Battle of Little Big Horn - After the Battle

My great grandfather served in the Indian Wars. According to family info he was in the troops that found Custer and his men. I sent for his military records and he served from 6/13/872 to 6/13/877. He was in Company I, 6th Regiment, US Infantry. He served at Fort Bradford, and from 1/1/1876 to 4/23/876 at Standing Rock N. Dakota. He also served at Fort Peck, Montana from 12/26/1876 to 5/14/0877. He fought the Sioux, Black Feet and Northern Cheyenne. He served under Colonel A.B. Harpson (Harpon?) and Captain Mortimer Lee.

I do not know much about this Battle and I was hoping for some information on the troops that found Custer and his men. I also would be interested to hear from anyone who has info on Company I, Reg 6.

Thanks

Linda
