BOUYER, Mitch, Interpreter, Killed with the CUSTER column on June 25. Ka-pesh, Minton Bouyer, Ca Pay, Kar-paysh, Michelet Bouer or Boyer, Man-Wearing-Calfskin-Vest. Half-blood Sioux Indian interreter for the Crow scouts attached to the 7th Cavalry from the 2nd Cavalry on June 22. He accompanied Lieut. Charles VARNUM on the trip to the Crow's nest, arriving there about 2:30 on the morning of June 25. Listed as Mitch BOYER on the battle monument. Not listed among the casualties in the BISMARK TRIBUNE EXTRA, July 6, 1876. See Marquis MEMOIRS OF A WHITE CROW INDIAN. BOUYER may possibly have been a half brother of Babtiste POURIER. At one time he served as a mail carrier between Fort Kearney and Fort C.F.Smith.
