Hi. Littleberry is also used as a first name in my husband's family. His grandfather's name was Berry Kenneth Burnette who was named after his grandfather, Littleberry Burnette (1850 census Buncombe County, NC.) You will also find the first name Berryman in the family. I have read in "Old Buncombe County First Families) that the name goes back to a Thomas Burnett that married Elizabeth Littleberry, the daughter of Thomas Littleberry who was captured by the Tories while on his way to the battle of King's Mountain and was stood up against a tree and shot to death. Many of the descendants used the name. They were obviously proud of it. Could be a connection!Brenda
