Lynn,
Unfortunately I haven't a clue. I was pretty sure (on paper) of my Brown lineage and there's no family history or rumors of any adoptions. I'm going by the Y-DNA findings which I suppose could be wrong, but it's interesting that my numbers found near-exact, but not exact matches. If they're not my numbers, there's probably a Tittle out there somewhere questioning the Browns! If you go onto the Family Tree DNA site you can see how close my numbers are to Jack, Bill and Chris Tittle.
In the area where I was raised (Letcher County Kentucky), I didn't know of any Tittles. Of course from what I've gathered so far, the Tittles liked to keep moving around and may have moved through our neck of the woods at any time in the past 150+ years.
As far as my paper lineage goes, my oldest ancestors came into the country in North Carolina, most likely from Ireland. After a generation or so, my branch moved to Letcher County Kentucky and stayed there until I left.
As you might imagine, finding out that I had close matches with 3 different gentlemen with the same last name was a bit of a surprise. I just hope my test results are correct, as I don't want to pester you folks with questions for no good reason.
Do you have your family tree up somewhere on the Internet where I can look at it? I don't know if it would help me figure anything out, but I would like to see it.
Also, you mentioned Kentucky in your prior posting. Were you talking about Tittles in Kentucky or other relatives? It would be interesting to know where any Kentucky Tittles lived.
Thanks for your quick response!
Marty
