You're probably right that my suggested village is not the correct one since it's on the left back of the Nemunas River which puts it into the Suwalki gubernia and not the Wilno gubernia.
I checked a Polish map at:
http://www.mapywig.org/m/wig300k/37_WILNO_1930.jpghttp://www.mapywig.org/m/wig300k/37_WILNO_1930.jpg
and found that they spell Janionys as JODANCE on their map.It's at the top of the map east of (Ciobiskiai).
It's tough trying to translate the polish place name to the current Lithuanian place name.
How do you read it?
