Mary Beth,
The village name "Tyrskalny" is most likely a misspelling of Tris^koniai in the Pakruojis district. The tip off to me was the "Tyrsk-" which could also be written "Tirsk-" looked more Russian or Polish to me and I couldn't find any place that began with those letters in any of the maps I use.So I searched the Ellis Island data base only for towns with names that sounded like that and that led me to think that the letters "r" and "y" or "i" might have been reversed (a common enough error). The sound of "-kalny" also seemed like it might be a phonetic way of writing "-koniai".
It is worth noting that Tris^koniai is about 26km from Jonis^kis (pronounced yon-ISH-kis), about 16 miles, though is is in the adjoning district of the same name. Both would have been in the Kaunas gubernia or province prior to WWI.Tris^koniai is about 5.8km west of Linkuva in the Pakruojis district (about 3.5 miles).
