The village name, which the Ellis Island data base transcribed for Anastasia and Adolph, was spelled Eusericzi and Ersericz respectively. The Lithuanian version probably begins with "Ier-", "Jus-", since it would not begin with "e" alone. The Polish "cz" would be come the Lithuanian "c^".

I read it as something like Ewsevicizi and, under place of birth, Ewsevicz, which would make the beginning of it in Lithuanian "Juvs-", perhaps Jusevic^iai. There is a village named Jusevic^iai, but it is in the Kalvarija district, which would not have been in the Vilnius gubernia at the time. On the manifest, the village was said to be in that gubernia ("gov. Wilna").
