Catharina Niecelaite

The saga continues.
I've managed to track down a copy of a marriage license indicating that my Grandmother Catharina Niecelaite (sic)married Vincent Nitrautas (sic)on 12 Feb 1912. This helped answer a couple of questions but raised some additional ones.
According to her death certificate, her town is shown as Wanatus. I understand that there is a Vainutas in Lithuania today, and the phone directory lists a similar surname.
Since Grandfather's name is incorrectly spelled, I'm going to assume that Grandmother's also is close, but inaccurate.
I still have no record of her entry into the country through Ellis Island with any of the spelling variations.
My question for the day is: What would be the most logical alternative port of entry that was used for entry by Lithuanian/Belarus immigrants?
Thanks
Vince Nirtaut
