My source of information, was from family oral history from great aunts, who have since passed.I know that in that generation, born about 100 years ago, religion was a still a great divider between Christian groups, especially in Europe. Also some of the divisiveness could have been that fact that many Protestant Lithuanians were of German ancestry, and probably were not considered "true" Lithuanians by the others,(although in my case one side was of French ancestry but they spoke German in the home after several generations and went to a German Protestant church.) Maybe the violence was not so much because they were Protestant, but because they were of German heritage.
