Wow.Arriving in 1875 would make Joseph one of the earliest Lithuanian immigrants to the U.S.
If he was married in the U.S., the church marriage register might indicate where he was born/baptized as well as his parents surnames.
One caveat, if it was not a Lithuanian parish, its quite likely the spelling of the various names/locations were probably "murdered" by the non-Lithuanian speaking writers.
As for the reference to Vilnius, during the Russian occupation of Lithuania (1795-1918), present-day Lithuania was divided into four different provinces (gubernia/guberniya in Russian).Each of the provinces was named for the provincial capital.Vilnius/Vilna/Wilno was one of them.
It's more likely that Joseph came from a village somewhere in the Vilnius gubernia rather than the actual city itself.See the following URLs for provincial boundaries:
