Have you tried rootsweb.com, the free part of ancestry.com? I am researching the Lipscomb family, also. I have a John Archer Lipscomb b 1849 in VA, son of Unknown Lipscomb b abt 1810 in VA and Mary S. Unknown b 1816, VA. John Archer is brother to Victoria Mosby Lipscomb b 1843, VA and Alice Payne Lipscomb b 1836, VA. Archer, Payne and Mosby are all family names to me so I feel confident that these are related to me.
Unknown Lipscomb's father is Hezekiah Lipscomb who married Polly.
